Lower Hutt, New Zealand--180 netball players, coaches and umpires gathered at Taita Netball Courts and passed the ball to each other time and time again - setting the new world record for the Most Consecutive Netball Passes for the Netball Hutt Valley Centre,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.
The Guinness world record for the most consecutive netball passes is 164, set by pupils of Brookfield Community School, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, UK.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most consecutive volleyball passes: 110, in an event hosted by the Triangle Volleyball Club at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.
Netball Hutt Valley Centre manager Phillipa Whitney didn't want to settle for just an ordinary start to the netball season - so she set out on organising an extraordinary event.
Hutt City mayor Ray Wallace was the first to throw the ball, and others who caught it and passed it on included Haier Pulse netball players Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit and Katrina Cooper.
Each person had to be eight feet apart and the ball had to be thrown consecutively for the record to be broken.
