Fastest Marathon dressed as a lifeguard: Carl Smith breaks Guinness world record
LONDON, UK -- Among the London Marathon runners pounding the capital's streets was shop manager Carl Smith, 33, from Queensbury, finished with a time of three hours and raised £1,000 for the Isabella Grace Trust, setting the new world record for the Fastest Marathon dressed as a lifeguard,

The previous Guinness world record for the Fastest marathon dressed as a lifeguard was set by Hamish Khayat with a time of three hours, 26 minutes and 35 seconds.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the fastest time to run a half marathon whilst pushing a pram; it is 1 hr 30 min 51 sec by Nancy Schubring (USA) at the Mike May Races Half Marathon, Vassar, Michigan, USA.
Mr. Smith said: "It was an amazing atmosphere, with going for the World Record as well with carrying the buoy and stuff, the crowd was fantastic."
Carl said all runners were given a black ribbon to wear in tribute to those who lost their lives during last week's Boston Marathon. "That was a really nice touch at the beginning. The atmosphere was fantastic," he said.
Mr Smith had joined other runners who vowed not to let fear stop them joining in the race, following last Monday's bomb attack that left three people dead and many more injured in Boston in the United States.
Carl Smith was tackling the London Marathon in memory of Isabella Grace Senior, who died in February 2012 after developing bronchiolitis.
The 33-year-old, who is good friends with Isabella's mum and dad, Lyndsey and Ryan Senior, said: "Basically, in Baywatch style, I will be carrying an inflatable buoy and a whistle round my neck, while dressed in a yellow vest and red shorts. So please dig deep and sponsor me in memory of Isabella, the brightest star in the sky," the Bradford Telegraph and Argus reported.
