Largest LEGO model of Noah's ark-world record
set at Harvest Bible Chapel
ELGIN, IL, USA -- More than 150 grade school-aged
children built a 1:37 scale model of Noah's ark made of LEGOs
at Harvest Bible Chapel's "High 5" summer day camp-setting
the world record for the Largest
LEGO model of Noah's ark.

The Largest
LEGO model of Noah's ark features the ark as well
as a five-color rainbow overhead, surrounded by the words
of Genesis 6:8: "But Noah found favor with the Lord."
It
measures 12 feet long, 2 feet wide and 18 inches tall and
includes a 3-foot wide exposed side revealing its three inner
decks.
The model has set the record for the largest
LEGO model of Noah's ark both "by dimension and brick," according
to Pastor Craig Steiner of the Elgin church's
Adult Ministries Department.
"I think we have a lot of misconceptions
that Noah's ark was a goofy houseboat with giraffes' heads
poking out the top. I think it's been intriguing for them
to see what the ark really looked like and change misconceptions.",
Steiner said.
LEGO shipped the pieces to Elgin from
its world headquarters in Denmark, based on plans drawn up
by plugging the biblical dimensions into a computer program
by Steiner and church members Jeremy Lindsey, assistant professor
of architecture at Judson University in Elgin; David Hoagland,
architect and vice president of Shales McNutt Construction
in Elgin; and Hoagland's 15-year-old son Samuel.
