LONDON, UK -- Twenty-eight women squeezed themselves into a Mini Cooper; it took the group 18 minutes to wriggle into position and set the the new world record for Most People Crammed Into A Mini Cooper,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.
The Guinness world record for the most people crammed into a Mini Cooper (old model) was 21 and was achieved by the Caless Dance School (Japan) in Tokyo, Japan.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people crammed into an original FIAT 500, set by 14 students from ESSCA Business School, in Paris, France.
"The adrenaline is amazing, but it's like the worst thing ever - there's no air, you just have to zone out," said Jayne Brockwell, one of the car-cram record-breakers whose carefully choreographed position earned her the nickname "Gearstick Girl".
It took the group 18 minutes to wriggle into position and claim the record for Most People Crammed Into A Mini.
They made full use of the space available, including the dashboard, footwells and even squeezed four people in the trunk.
The team broke their own previous world record of 27 people, which they set in Eastbourne last year.
As soon as they had celebrated their first world record, the group squeezed 23 ladies into a classic Mini, again beating the previous world record by two people.
